From: Bob Brasher…… Massey MD1 Fly In this weekend
October 23 – 25 Massey Aerodrome near Dover DE.
Rusty Lowry is working with the folks at Massey Aerodrome (MD1) to host a
vintage sailplane weekend 23-25 October as a trial run for a “real” VSA meet
there next year – probably in the Fall.
He will be bringing up tow planes and a couple of Schweizer gliders.
Massey is located near Dover DE, just a few miles South of Middletown DE.
Hotels are available in Dover, Middletown, and Chestertown MD and Massey has
also said we could camp on the field as needed.
The field itself features a 3000′ X 100′ grass main runway with a 1200′
crossing runway. There are numerous (18?) airfields within a 10 mile or so
radius and a lot of flat fields to accommodate a land out (in the unlikely
event such a thing would happen). Massey also has an air museum on the field
and a couple of hangars – most of the gliders will be tied down but they
said they could accommodate one or two inside if need be.
The basic plan is for the tow planes to arrive Friday morning Oct 23rd to
support some flying that afternoon, all day Sat, and Sun up to a
mid-afternoon departure.
No cost for the weekend aside from lodging and food. Tows will be $30 with
$5 going to the Massey air museum and $5 going to VSA, the other $20 will be
gas money for the Pawnee and Cessna 150/150.
Contact Rusty at lowry94@verizon.net if you are interested.

Any Pilots who have not yet traded in their paper pilot certificates have until March 31, 2010, when the paper certificates are set to expire. If you’re still using paper, don’t delay. Pilots can no longer exercise the privileges of their paper pilot certificates after the March 31 deadline. Student certificates are not affected and certain non-pilot certificates, such as those issued to AMTs, are still valid for three more years before they need to be replaced.
Renewing a certificate can be done online or through the mail, and instruction can be found at: http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/certificate_replacement/. Requesting a replacement certificate online requires creating an account with Airman Certification Online Services, which only takes a few minutes. Being registered can help you in the future with quicker processing of an address change or a replacement certificate request.

NBAA is applauding the state of New Jersey for its proclamation designating September 29 as “Aviation Awareness Day,” an effort to highlight the value of all general and business aviation to the Garden State. The decree, issued by Gov. Chris Christie, notes that New Jersey’s aviation community includes “a cross-section of professionals…with emphasis on the special needs of the state’s business community.” It cites general aviation’s role in supporting “direct employment for approximately 18,000 New Jersey residents,” and notes that general aviation is vital for many state businesses and farms.

I´ve been reading your blog for awhile and also it never occurred to me to comment. That is totally ironic, because I´ve spent a lot of time over the past few months studying what it takes to make people comment on my own website. Right after reading a handful of your posts I guess it´s controversial topics that stir people´s emotions to the point where they can´t simply ´let it go.´
