Women Fly and more events!

Apr06

The weekend was breezy and the bright red Citrabia was unable to give flights during  the Fly It Forward weekend. Pilots, being resourceful people put their heads together and decided to fly the heavier aircraft for our event.  The beautiful fearless young girls and women would have the chance to take flight after all. The Diamond DA40, two piper archers, and one piper warrior flew the non-pilot females this weekend.  Local Brownies and the Camden County Youth Group had a chance to participate.  Emily spoke to the Brownies and Mark gave the Camden County Youth Group a tour of his red Citrabia.  If the young ladies decided not to fly, they tour various aircraft and watched as others took their steps into the plane and climbed upward into the sky.  Kirk and Rob gave flights on Saturday.  Darren and Kirk gave flight on Sunday.  Tony and Robert gave flights to their daughters.  Chris flew his friend Diane.

On the first day of spring, March 20, three aircraft ventured up the Hudson River Corridor to enjoy a day at the Cronins Maple Farm.  After landing at Dutchess County Airport, and parking, everyone realized just down the ramp was AOPA winning aircraft from 2009.  Eleven people climbed into Blue Eye’s rental van in various ways, to slowly drive the twisty winding roads of upper state NJ, looking forward to enjoying a pancake breakfast dripping with fresh maple syrup and enjoy the warmth of maple coffee.  Flights were made up and down the Hudson River on this sunny warm first day of spring!
