International Learn to Fly Day
The Experimental Aircraft Association, also known as the EAA, are always encouraging its’ members to take others flying, but on Saturday, May 16, there’s an even better reason to do so: the sixth annual International Learn to Fly Day is an opportunity to help someone take that first step to discover the fun, freedom, and accomplishment of becoming a pilot.
Many of the Local EAA Chapter have planned an events for International Learn to Fly Day, such as Young Eagles flights for ages 7 to 17. To find a EAA Chapter in your area that may offer this program, please visit this weblike for EAA volunteers who participate in the Young Eagles® program.
Freeflight Aviation encourages our pilots to take a friend for a flight in this day. One half hour Discovery Flight Packages are available to the general public for $105.00 per person. Give us a call if you would like to make a reservation for a Discovery Flight.
Freeflight Aviation’s Breakfast Gathering
If you have always wanted to learn to fly but don’t know where to start, just join a table of pilots and we will be happy to tell you more. Pilots just love to share their stories of flying. Come eat at a place where the food tastes better than your Moms and your treated like family! The kids will love watching the airplanes take off on the runway (or swimming in the airplane shape pool in the summer).
Freeflight’s Memorial Day Bring A Dish Gathering.
Bring a Dish of Food and share the day with Freeflight Aviation on May 25th starting at 1 PM, in one of the Pavilions at the Flying W Airport. We will provide the Hamburger and Hotdogs and a Grill!
What to bring: Salads, Chips, Dips, Desserts, Veggies, Munchies, Bake Beans, Sauerkraut, Chili, Cookies, or something to throw on the grill, such as chicken, sausage, etc. The Tiki Bar will be open by the Flying W Swimming Pool for purchasing alcoholic beverages for those of you who are not flying.
North Jersey 99’s Poker Run
A gathering of many pilots, starting at different airports, collecting cards to create a poker hand will be in the air flying on May 30th, weather permitting.
The final gathering point, the terminus will be at Blairtown Airport to celebration the winners’ for the poker hand and the handing out of prizes. A great way to meet new pilots and people who just love aviation. For more details and a list of Great Prizes visit the North Jersey 99’s webpage.
Freeflight Aviation Open House
We invite the Pilot Community to Gather at the Flying W Airport for Breakfast or Lunch at the Patti Wagon Café on June 13th to meet other pilots and to display their aircraft on our ramp for the General Public’s viewing during our Open House.

Private Pilot Ground School
One of the best ways to learn about flying an aircraft other then “take flight” is to gather together with other students learning the fundelmentals of flight with other students. One of our flight instructors is offer what we call the “Private Pilot Ground School” for students learning to fly or are thinking about learning to fly.
