She ushers springtime in

Feb26

“March bustles in on windy feet
And sweeps my doorstep and my street.
She washes and cleans with pounding rains,
Scrubbing the earth of winter stains.
She shakes the grime from carpet green
Till naught but fresh new blades are seen.
Then, house in order, all neat as a pin,
She ushers gentle springtime in.”
–  Susan Reiner, Spring Cleaning

The Winds

The position of our jet stream and the angle of the sun have a lot effect on our winds.

During the winter season, the jet stream is way down south, but as spring arrives, the jet spring begins to move north.

The lifting jet stream and the increased sunny weather can cause increased atmospheric instability. The mixing of the cold and warmer air brings stronger winds. These fluctuations in the temperature can make one day feel like summer and the next day feel like winter.

Why the Spring season is so windy.

Created by the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Spring Stormy Weather

Thunderstorms are another major flying hazard in the spring. Dangerous thunderstorms can bring lightning, tornadoes, and flooding. When warm, moist air collides with cool, dry air, thunderstorms can occur. The three main ingredients: unstable air, an initial updraft, and high moisture content in the air can be the prefect mixture of a dangerous thunderstorm.
